- Inadequate power supply and hard drive controller and motor damage.
- Fall and damage the mechanical hard drive in it or a minimum of bad sectors.
- Too often brought carry without a safety makes platter drive has failed due to excessive shock.
- Temperature in the heat made conditions hard disk in an unstable environment.
- Conditions MTBF / age disk, has been reached and will be damaged.

Stages 1
Before doing the next stage should use steps 1 to ensure the condition of the damaged hard drive platter. To know this is hard to do LOW LEVEL FORMAT (LLF). LLF can be done from the BIOS or software. For the BIOS, such as the generation of some old PC Pentium 486 or (586) has the option LLF. Or it can use the software LLF. To get this software can be loaded on the Site LLF hard drive makers. Or search for files like hddutil.exe utility (from Maxtor - MaxLLF.exe) and wipe.exe 1.0c version 2.5.96.
LLF is the function of the software to delete all information both partitions, and the data in the hard disk bad sector information. This software is also useful for making errors on FAT 32 partition from Windows Fdisk. After running the program LLF, the disk will be completely clean as the condition was first used.
Warning: Use of LLF software will erase all data in the hard disk
Stages 2
The next process is to try and error method. Stages for this session are:
- Creating disk partitions: With FDISK program with 1 partition, either primary or extended partition. For the primary can be done with a single hard drive, but if want the hard drive as extended, it needs a hard drive as the boot process and has had primary partition (partition to boot).
- Format hard disk: With FORMAT C: / C. The addition of the / C option to run the checks in the event of bad sectors. During the process of formatting check on what percentage of hard drive damage. When the FORMAT program featuring Trying to recover allocation unit xxxxxx, meaning that the program is examining the conditions in which the drive is going bad sectors. Assumptions on the test below is a 1.2 GB Seagate hard drive with 2 small damage location and approximate percentage figures shown by the FORMAT program.
- Create a partition again: With FDISK, remove all the partitions in the hard drive before, and to re-partition corresponding record the damage. The assumptions on the images below are partitioning with Primary and Extended partitions. In the Primary partitions are not visible and only indicated the extended partition. The division in the picture below is on drive D and F (22MB and 12 MB) discarded because there are bad sectors. While at E and G (758MB and 81MB) are the drives that are still in good condition and can be used.
- To ensure any bad sectors are located on the hard drive partition that will be discarded, format the entire drive letter with the command FORMAT / C. If indeed there is a bad sector on the partition removed (assuming the test is bad sectors on the drive letter D and F), the partition can be immediately discarded. But when something goes wrong, such as the damage is not bad sectors in the partition to be removed but there is on the partition you want to use, you have to repeat the process from the beginning by removing the partition where there is an error in dividing partition bad sectors affected. Things to remember: Partition done from beginning to end, for example, C, D, E and so on. To discard the partition using the opposite way from Z to C. Errors in the throw and make partition random mess will mess up your system disk partition.
- The next process is to remove the partition that is not used anymore. After checking with the FORMAT program, then the next process is to remove the partition that contains bad sectors. In the picture below is: throw Phase 2 FDISK to partition the drive letter D and E. For the E and G is the partition drive letter to be used.
- At the end of the stage you can check re-partition the hard drive with the option 4 (Display partitisi) FDISK program, the example in the figure below is the remaining 3 drives: C as the primary partition (not shown), 2 extended partition is a partition that contains good and bad
You are telling us that bad sectors are not a problem any more!! Are you serious? What about all the hard disk that I trash out due to bad sectors!!
